Prepare Your iDevice For The Update

iOS 12 will make your iPhone and iPad more powerful, personal, and intelligent. To successfully update to a new iOS you’ll need to prepare your iDevice first. Follow these steps BEFORE installing the new operating system.

Create a Backup

Backup your device to save all your important information. You can backup to either your iCloud or computer. To check if you have a recent backup: Open Settings > Tap iCloud > Tap iCloud Backup > See when you last backed up or Tap Backup Now. Need help creating a backup? Click Here >>

Know Your Password

If you have a passcode on your device, make sure that you know it so you can update to iOS 12. If you forgot the passcode Click Here >>

Have Your Apple ID Ready

Your Apple ID is the account you use for everything you do with Apple, like buying apps or shopping in the iTunes store. If you forgot your Apple ID password Click Here >>

Ready to Update? Here’s How:

Over-the-Air Update: if you are on a Wi-Fi Network you can update to iOS 12 right from your device (no need for a computer or iTunes). Just connect your device to it’s charger and tap Settings > General > Software Update. iOS will automatically check for an update, then prompt you to download and install iOS 12.

Update via iTunes: First make sure you have the latest version of iTunes. Now connect your iOS device to your computer. Click the iPhone or iPad icon in the top-left corner of iTunes. Next click Check for Updates > Download and Update. Follow the prompts, accept the terms, and let iTunes work the magic.

Now make FaceTime calls with up to 32 participants simultaneously. With added Focus View in Group the speaker will automatically be front and center.

Fun New FaceTime Effects

Use FaceTime with your friends as your favorite Animoji or Memoji. Add shapes, text effects like speech bubbles, and emojis to your photos and videos mid call.

Make yourself the center of your emojis! Using a new tool called Memoji Maker you can select and adjust your emojis.

New Animoji Features

Four new Animoji: T. Rex, Ghost, Koala, and Tiger. Improved face tracking now recognizes when you wink or stick out your tongue.
