If you’re anything like me, you have thousands of photos and videos on your camera roll because you tend to take 3-5 pictures of every moment hoping one will turn out. Case in point:
In an effort to capture one cute moment of our dog Bailey, I took 3 pictures. As you can see, only the middle photo is worth keeping yet all 3 are living in my camera roll and taking up valuable memory real estate.
As of right now I have 54,446 photos and 12,138 videos on my phone and in the cloud. I can guarantee about a third of those are duplicates I don’t need to leave behind for my daughter to sift through one day. You probably have a few dozen a month you could clean up too! Take back control of your virtual junk drawer in just 5 minutes this week!
Open your photos app, choose the photos tab (bottom left), and scroll up to one month ago from today. Now sift through week-by-week deleting any of the photo and video outtakes.
Feel like you’re on a roll? Scroll up another month and do it again! Only have 5 minutes this week? Just tackle one month and don’t feel overwhelmed. Just start somewhere and create this habit of keeping the outtakes off your phone and out of the cloud.
When you’re done with the big purge finish the job by emptying your recently deleted album.
Photos < Albums < Recently Deleted < Select all < Delete all.
And that’s it! In 5 minutes time you took care of a month. I’ll remind you next month to do this again and soon it will become habit! Stay tuned for next week’s challenge task.
